We had a long journey to reach Tagong and a big talker who chatted to us in tibetan for 6 hours. The villagewith a population of around 8000 people, mostly Tibetans turned out to be a real wild west. We enjoyed the surrounding sacred mountains and the whole vibe of the village. Tibetans are more down to earth and ready to communicate than the Chinese. To reach further parts of the area we rented old motorbikes. It was a nice, but cold stay and we had a lot of Tibetan tea (black tea, yak milk and salt) served with bread and butter to keep us warm. The plan to reach the Tibetan border and more of the remote villages failed due to the expiring visas. Travelling in these areas a 200km distance can easily transform into 10 hours of bumpy and shaky ride. We had no time to spare and decided to go south towards Vietnam and to reach it in about a weeks time.
